Thrust Chamber

The thrust chamber is designed to compensate axial and radial forces generated during operation of a single-rotor PCP pump and to transmit torque from the motor through the protector to the PCP pump.

Thrust Chamber

The thrust chamber is installed between the PCP pump and the protector of the submersible motor.

The thrust chamber consists of an axial load compensation unit, a hydraulic compensator, and an intake module.

Axial Load Compensation Unit

The axial load compensation unit consists of a housing with a shaft installed inside. The shaft is centered by two radial roller bearings equipped with preload devices. Five thrust roller bearings are used to absorb axial loads. One additional thrust roller bearing is installed to absorb axial loads during reverse pump rotation. The internal cavity of the axial load compensation unit is filled with oil.

Hydraulic Compensator

The hydraulic compensator consists of a housing with an internal shaft and a sleeve with a rubber diaphragm. Safety valves are installed inside the sleeve.

The intake module consists of a housing with openings or slots for reservoir fluid intake, a flexible shaft, and coupling connections.

Torque from the motor protector is transmitted to the shaft of the hydraulic compensator and the shaft of the axial load compensation unit, and then through the flexible shaft to the rotor of the progressing cavity pump.
